Low VOCs for better indoor air quality with vinyl flooring!

VOCs are a significant issue in many industries, especially in flooring solutions. These compounds readily evaporate into gases and are widely found in building materials and products. Despite their ubiquity, VOCs significantly impact health, safety, and the environment. So, how do you buy low-VOC vinyl flooring?

VOC is one of the three types of pollution that affects indoor air quality, which has a more profound impact.
VOC has a pungent smell, and some compounds are genotoxic. It is generally believed that VOC can cause the body’s immune level to be imbalanced, affect the function of the central nervous system, and cause subjective symptoms such as dizziness, headache, drowsiness, weakness, and chest tightness; it may also affect the digestive system, causing loss of appetite, nausea, etc. In severe cases, it can damage the liver and hematopoietic system, causing allergic reactions, etc.

Health

Currently, many clients’ project requirements clearly state the TVOC standard, which requires many clients to pay attention to this at the source.

VOC project requirement

The U.S. Green Building Council’s Technical Advisory Committee (TAG) on Environmental Quality maintains a list of product emissions certification programs, such as FloorScore, that qualify for the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) low-emitting materials credit. FloorScore is a third-party certification standard verifying that hard flooring materials, adhesives, and underlays have been tested and meet the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) standard test method, considered the industry standard for VOC emissions testing.

Double horse flooring has always been a low VOC emission flooring solution, providing products with VOC emission levels lower than the most stringent world standards. Sometimes, our VOC emissions are so low that they cannot even be quantified! Double horse flooring products (such as Homogeneous vinyl flooring, Heterogeneous vinyl flooring, ESD vinyl flooring, and ESD tiles) are all certified by FloorScore and have SGS test certificates, meeting ISO 16000-6 standards.
