What is ESD flooring?

ESD flooring stands for Electrostatic Discharge. ESD is a grounded static dissipative floor or conductive floor covering with a resistance between 2.5 x 104 and 1.0 x 109 ohms.
This only means that the floor itself does not generate static electricity; it does not mean that the floor will eliminate static electricity buildup or dissipate static electricity that builds up in the body.

Conductive Properties: ESD anti-static vinyl flooring contains conductive materials that help to dissipate static charges safely.
Static Dissipative: Flooring helps prevent static electricity from building up on surfaces, reducing the risk of electrostatic discharge.

Why use ESD flooring ?

ESD Flooring is designed to prevent and remove static electric charges where sophisticated electronics systems are operated, manufactured, assembled, or repaired.

Electrostatic concept map

Static electricity is first generated when a person walks across the floor of a room. Static electricity continues to build up. The static electricity is released once the person comes into contact with another object. For example, a computer keyboard can accept this charge because static electricity always seeks the path of least resistance.

Static electricity is first discharged through one’s hands. Simple movements like sliding out of a chair across the floor at work or walking across a floor can produce enough static electricity to damage equipment.  Electrostatic discharge cannot be detected until it has reached a minimum of 3,500 volts.

Our ESD flooring is ideal because it prevents operational failures such as dropped calls, system outages, etc. These failures cost hundreds of millions of dollars annually in lost productivity and outright product failures. It’s not just about preventing damage; it’s about protecting your bottom line.

Where require ESD flooring?

Application

Electronics Manufacturing: ESD antistatic vinyl flooring is often used in manufacturing facilities where static electricity can damage sensitive electronic components during assembly or testing.

Cleanrooms: Cleanroom environments require flooring that can control static electricity to prevent contamination of sensitive materials or equipment. ESD antistatic vinyl flooring is often used in cleanrooms in industries such as pharmaceutical, biotech, and semiconductor manufacturing.

Server Rooms: In server rooms and data centers where electronic equipment and servers are housed, ESD antistatic flooring helps prevent static discharges that can damage equipment or interrupt operations.

Laboratories: ESD antistatic vinyl flooring is a laboratory shield that handles sensitive instruments or equipment. It’s a crucial tool in preventing static damage and ensuring the safety and integrity of the equipment.

Control Rooms: Civil, defense, and telecommunications rooms often use ESD antistatic flooring to protect critical equipment and operations from static-related issues.

ESD antistatic vinyl flooring is not just a solution but a vital component in maintaining a safe and efficient environment. It is crucial in industries where static control is critical to equipment performance, product quality, and personnel safety.
